A sheep’s head is known as a schafkopf in German and is a popular card playing game in Germany. This colorful and sturdy international journal of art and literature based at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay was named by students as Sheepshead Review, a cheeky reference to the popular Wisconsin card game, Sheepshead. My color photo, The Gila Bend Welcome, appears on page 118. This shot was taken in Arizona in the town of Gila Bend, known as the crossroads of the Southwest. By the way, it was a real pleasure to revisit this journal since they published some photos of mine back in 2022, which was posted on this blog.
