“All He Knew” was written by my friend Helen Frost. It recently won the prestigious 2021 Scott O’Dell Award for Historical Fiction. It is lovely, heart-breaking, well-written young adult novel in verse with a main character who is deaf. While developing this book, Helen reached out to me for some guidance on Henry, the deaf boy, misdiagnosed as being mentally disabled. Helen graciously complimented me in her acknowledgements (pg. 251).
