Hey -- My Very First Haiga!

I learned about this visual cousin of haiku from Professor John J. Han, the editor of Cantos, who also teaches English and Creative Writing at Missouri Baptist University. It’s an ancient Japanese form that combines haiku, calligraphy, and painting. Contemporary versions of it blends haiku with photographs, like mine titled “Floating in.” The complete 2024 issue of Cantos (165 pages) is available to read online at:
